What is Membership?
Members of Fair Use Building and Research are responsible for paying dues, supporting the goals and mission of the organization, and contributing some of their time and skills to FUBAR. In return we provide unlimited access to our space, equipment, and other resources. Members also receive a discount on any event with an admission fee.
The regular membership fee is $25 monthly, to be paid after a board of review (see below). Key holding members pay $50 monthly and receive a key to the space for 24 hour access, however the space is frequently available for regular members at scheduled times during the week, and whenever keyholders are present. There is also a nonvoting membership class, offered at a greatly discounted rate, which is available through our ‘Starving Hacker’ program. The Starving Hacker rate is a need-based program. To find out if you are eligible, contact us at questions@fubarlabs.com
How do I become a member?
Interested in becoming a member of FUBAR Labs? Just attend one of our Tuesday Night Member Meetings which are every week at 8pm at our location at 403 Cleveland Ave, Highland Park, NJ. Once you’ve introduced yourself, and informed one of our officers of your intention to join, you will start a short probationary period of about 4-6 weeks. During that time two of our members will volunteer to ’sponser’ you, and we’ll all get a chance to get to know each other. Your sponsers will help you get settled in and answer any questions for you about our organization. At the end of the probationary period, we will hold a Membership Board of Review where your sponsers will speak on your behalf and our memers will vote to approve or deny your membership. We’re not elitist and we don’t descriminate, but we have to know we can trust you with a key to our facilities, and make sure you’re willing to contribute to the organization.
