Lan Party and Tech Expo
When: Saturday, November 21st, 2009, 8:00pm
Where: Fallout Shelter Comics, 27 Bayard St, New Brunswick, NJ, 08901
Come join us for an evening of gaming and gadgets! For the gamers there will be Halo 3, Rock Band, and a variety of titles for the Wii. For the techies we’ll have our 3D printer-the Makerbot on display, a workshop on intercepting wireless signals (with a wireless walking tour of New Brunswick, weather permitting) and lots of other gadgets and toys. Foxx from BSODtv.org will be on hand to demonstrate his equipment. And somewhere in between there will be a demonstration of ram hacking (a method of modifying your console games) and several hacked and modified console systems.
Registration: $10 donation at the door. All proceeds go towards establishing a hackerspace in the New Brunswick area.
Discounts available for anyone who wishes to bring their own console/display or gadgets/tech for demonstration. Contact lanparty@fubarlabs.com for details.

C'mon, can you say no to this face?

Learn to solder, learn to knit, and make a glowing-eyed monster that runs on dead batteries.
Students will learn to read a schematic, prototype a circuit on a solderless breadboard, and solder the final circuit on a printed circuit board. The example circuit amplifies the power of a battery that would otherwise be considered dead, and drives two LEDs for up to a week of continuous use.
Students will also learn a few basic stitches that will allow them to craft a small stuffed monster.
Registration is $25 and will be collected at Fallout Shelter Comics the day of the class. Materials included.
